Robert was appointed as a Trustee in August 2021. Professionally he is a Project Director / Shareholder of Colliers Project Leaders, one of New Zealand’s premier Project and Property Advisory Consultancy firms. With over 33 years’ experience in the construction industry, Rob has gained skillsets that allow him to view issues from a governance perspective to assist in finding solutions to complex situations which benefit wide sectors of the community.

Robert’s governance experience includes 6 years on Horsham Downs School Board of Trustees, with three years as Chairperson. He has also served as Waikato branch president and national council executive of the Property Council of New Zealand from 2011 to 2015 and was on the Central Region branch committee from 2010 to 2018.

Robert is actively involved with football and served for 6 years Northern United Sports Club committee, two of which as club president and has coached or managed his daughter's teams in some capacity for the last 10 years. Born and raised in Auckland, Rob moved to Hamilton in 2006 and continues to live in the city with his wife and three daughters, who are passionate supporters of the local community.

Metua was appointed as a Trustee in September 2020 and enjoys collectively working with like-minded people, learning new skills, sharing experiences and skill sets for the betterment of all communities we serve in the greater Waikato region. Metua is of Kuki Airani Maori/Cook Islands Maaori descent, fully conversant in her native tongue and passionate about making a difference for her Pacific people in Aotearoa, including back in her Pacific homelands.

Born in Rarotonga and raised in Aitutaki by her paternal grandparents until she was five, Metua returned to her birth parents in Rarotonga for schooling. She left for Aotearoa at the age of nine, as it was her parents' wish for her to have a better education and feels truly blessed to have been raised by three sets of special families that have significantly contributed to the person she is today.

Metua is a member of the St. Luke’s Pacific Islands Presbyterian Church in Tokoroa and strives to apply the principles of the Christian faith in her daily living. She is also a Trustee for Te Ara Metua Punanga Reo Kuki Airani Early Childhood Education Centre in and holds the roles of Treasurer and Licensee for the centre for nearly 30 years. Metua is the Chair for South Waikato Pacific Islands Community Services Trust (SWPICS) in Tokoroa, having held this role for 22 years. She also holds a position on the Aere Tai Collective Board in her capacity as Chairperson for SWPICS.

A long-time resident of Tokoroa who has worked in the area of intellectual and physical disabilities and mental health and addictions services for 25 years. years. Metua enjoys meeting and interacting with people from all walks of life. She and her husband Tupuiariki Daniel-Malietoa have been blessed with four adult children, 11 mokopuna and one ina - great-mokopuna.

Tarena was appointed as a Trustee in August 2023. A dedicated coach and educator, Tarena is a teacher at Ngaaruawaahia High School and Head of Women’s Football at Melville United AFC. She is also a member of the Lion Foundation’s Regional Grants Committee for the Waikato and Bay of Plenty.

One of the leading youth coaches in the country, she was named New Zealand’s Junior Coach of the Year in 2019. Raised in Hamilton, Tarena attended university in the United States as a college athlete playing soccer and later returned to her hometown. Her transition from player to coach was marked by her passion for the game and her commitment to youth development.

She is a recent graduate of Te Hāpaitanga’s second cohort, a holistic coach development initiative enabling more women to pursue and maintain careers in high performance coaching in New Zealand, which has inspired her to apply unique aspects of her culture and tikanga Maaori to her coaching philosophy.

I'm thrilled to share a bit about my journey with you. As one of New Zealand's most recognised athletes and a dedicated cyclist, I've had the honour of winning World and Olympic Championships. I currently hold the World Record for the 3000m Women's Individual Pursuit in track cycling. Winning the Commonwealth Games twice in a row (1998 and 2002) and holding the Commonwealth Games Record were incredible milestones for me. Being named New Zealand Sportsperson of the Year in 2004 was a true highlight.

I'm passionate about encouraging more people, especially young women, to take up cycling, whether for sport or just for fun. It's a fantastic way to stay active and enjoy the outdoors. Thank you for your support!

Few people are as passionate about, or as involved in, the greater Waikato community as Ken. Since selling his commercial insurance brokerage to Gallagher Insurance, he has continued to work, contributing his extensive management and governance skills.

Ken’s involvement spans across the Not-for-profit sector and commercial directorships, where he has also served on various boards in education, health, community development, and scientific research. He has also held leadership roles, including founding chair positions and trustee roles in community foundations and regional property trusts. Recently, he was appointed to the Waitangi Tribunal.

Ken was honoured with a Queen’s Service Medal for his services to the community, and Queen Elizabeth II made him a Knight of the Order of St John. Rotary also awarded him the Paul Harris Fellowship, and a Distinguished Fellow of the IOD, its highest award.

Julie and Ken have been married since 1976, and we consider Hamilton and the Waikato region his Tuurangawaewae. Their daughter Kate, a University of Waikato graduate, also resides in Hamilton.

Ken firmly believes in the importance of serving our communities and live by Sir Winston Churchill's: "We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give."

Teenaa koutou katoa! I'm Glenda, of Ngaati Kinohaku, Ngaati Raahiri, and Ngaati Kuiaa. I have extensive experience working with tribal organisations in Aotearoa. At Waikato-Tainui, I serve 91,000 tribal members and 68 tribal communities, overseeing grants, scholarships, and community distributions. Currently, I'm pursuing a PhD, focusing on how post-settlement dependency affects identity.

As the General Manager of Heritage & Identity at Waikato-Tainui, my team and I manage knowledge resources, maintain the tribal register and archives, and handle grants. It's a privilege to support our communities and help preserve our heritage. Ngaa mihi nui!

Rangimahora is the Chief Executive of the Rauawaawa Kaumaatua Charitable Trust, where she has worked since 2010. With more than 30 years of experience across the health and education sectors, she has helped guide Rauawaawa, alongside the Board and team, to build a strong reputation for kaupapa that uphold Kaumaatua wellbeing, community leadership, and innovation.

She works closely with kaupapa Maaori providers, research partners, and community organisations to advance age friendly environments and culturally grounded solutions. Rangimahora often refers to kaumaatua as “Ngaa Maatauranga Taonga”, reflecting the deep respect she holds for their wisdom and aspirations.

Rangimahora is deeply honoured to serve as a Trustee for Trust Waikato, recognising it’s long-standing role in enabling transformative opportunities and supporting the resilience and wellbeing of communities throughout the Waikato region.

Deserae is an integrative leader with more than two decades of experience shaping strategy, governance, and operational performance across corporate, government, and for‑purpose sectors in Aotearoa and the United States. She has a strong track record in leading transformation, building high‑performance cultures, and aligning organisational systems with strategic intent. Deserae is recognised for building trusted relationships with boards, communities, and senior leaders, while delivering sustainable, people‑centred impact.

She has previously served as President‑Elect for Staff Council at a Tier 1 research university, representing more than 10,000 staff across five dispersed campuses, including a medical campus, to the state‑elected Board of Regents. This experience strengthened her understanding of complex systems and how to support meaningful responses to systemic challenges.

Deserae continues to grow her systems‑thinking approach and currently serves as Chair of the Waikato Screen Advisory Board and Co‑Chair of Rainbow Hub Waikato, supporting good governance practice and the alignment of strategy with operational delivery.

She is honoured to support the kaupapa of Trust Waikato, with a focus on long‑term impact and enabling Waikato communities to lay strong foundations today for a vibrant and thriving future.

Stu Husband is a respected negotiator, mediator, and governance leader with more than 30 years’ experience across iwi engagement, regional politics, farming, and public service. He brings a unique blend of grassroots understanding, cultural competency, and strategic leadership to every role he holds.

Since 2022, Stu has supported iwi and major commercial entities to build enduring and meaningful partnerships. He specialises in developing Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) that uphold both tikanga Maaori and commercial integrity. As an accredited professional mediator and farm debt mediator with the Resolution Institute, he is also recognised for his skill in marae-based mediation and rural dispute resolution, helping guide complex conversations with empathy, clarity, and respect.

From 2013 to 2022, Stu served as Waikato Regional Councillor for the Waihou constituency. During this time, he chaired the Integrated Catchment Management Committee, contributed as a hearing's commissioner, and advocated strongly for sustainable land use and the rural voice in governance. Alongside this, he has owned and directed dairy farming businesses for nearly two decades, currently operating Bellevue Farms Ltd in Tauhei, and has held leadership roles with Federated Farmers.

His governance background includes roles across school boards, the Martha Gold Mine Trust, and extensive training through the Institute of Directors and Local Government New Zealand. Earlier in his career, Stu worked as a Senior Corrections Officer and Senior Firefighter, developing the resilience, calm leadership, and community focus that continue to shape his work today.
