Chris Flatt was appointed as a trustee of Trust Waikato in June 2018 and has been the National Secretary of the NZ Dairy Workers Union - Te Runanga Wai U (DWU) based in the DWU’s Hamilton National Office since August 2012.
Chris is also a current director on several boards including the Waikato Trade Union Centre Ltd, the Centre for High Performance Work Ltd, the Workers’ Education Trust - Kaimahi Mātauranga and the Primary Industry Training Organisation (Primary ITO).
Chris has also worked as a private practice employment lawyer in both Auckland and Sydney and holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Bachelor of Social Sciences (Hons) from the University of Waikato - Te Whare Wananga o Waikato. Chris is also an Associate Member of Governance New Zealand (formerly the NZ Chartered Company Secretaries Association).
Chris loves living in the Waikato, having lived in Hamilton while studying at Waikato University from 1993 to 1999, and for the last six years has lived in Cambridge with his wife Sharlene and their three young children. Chris is excited about the opportunity to serve the wider Waikato community through his work on Trust Waikato.
