Abstract
In collaboration with Judy Osborne (Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator), the project group decided that the overarching goal of the project was,

'To gain a positive result for workers in reducing injuries at work by considering how attitudes of employees may effect health and safety at work'.

As the Health and Safety Coordinator at MPL, Judy was interested in exploring ways of defining the culture and safety at MPL. Current proposed changes to the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 have generated a focus on safety culture within the workplace. Over the previous six months Judy attended workshops that related to the defining and development of a positive safety culture.

After significant discussion within the project group, and with Judy, it was decided to talk with workers at MPL, and from their perceptions of the health and safety culture at MPL. As a result, the defined purpose of the project was,

'To explore workers' perceptions of health and safety at work'.
