Abstract
The Broncho Te Kiri Information Technology Centre has provided an invaluable service to the Enderley Park Community. This evaluation looks at the development and growth of the Broncho Te Kiri ITC.
The Broncho Te Kiri ITC is well connected with the philosophy of EPCC and has maintained strong relationships with EPCC and the EPCC Committee, and key informants all reported that it has had a positive impact on the local community.
The ITC is well utilised by different user groups from the local community, particularly through the Homework Programme provided for children who do not have access to computers within their own home.
Key informants shared valuable insights and learning’s from their experience of the establishment of the ITC for consideration by other communities wishing to establish their own ITC. In particular, the importance of planning for the establishment phase and ongoing running of the ITC was identified, both financially and relevant technical expertise. Ensuring some form of governance group is in place to assist with the development of rules and regulations for the use and day to day running of the ITC were also important. Similarly, it is important to monitor the use of the ITC and internet, and ensure that the ITC continues to meet ongoing community need and changes in technology.
