We had the pleasure of celebrating the opening of Coromandel Independent Living Trust’s Te Puutahi Whaiora – The Hub on Friday, 23 February.
The Hub provides a modern, enduring, collaborative environment where the social and community needs of the people of the Upper Coromandel Peninsula can be met; this includes community service and social support providers; meeting space and co-working facilities; and space for sports, recreation and community clubs. This facility will ensure the further development and sustainability of their services aimed at improving the lives of all people in the Upper Coromandel Peninsula well into the future.
Special congratulations to our trustee, Michael Noonan, who was the long serving Executive Trustee of CILT and key to getting this project off the ground.
Trust Waikato granted $574,000 towards the project back in August 2018 and construction began late 2021.
CILT – Coromandel Independent Living Trust is dedicated to improving the lives of all people in the Upper Coromandel Peninsula and reducing barriers to participation. Their various programmes include transport assistance to allow people to attend hospital appointments in Thames and Waikato hospitals; social and family services to assist whaanau in need; addressing rural isolation, digital connectivity and digital literacy; and programmes to support people with disabilities and other barriers to participation.
